Tonight I have a new piece in a group show at The Art Grist gallery. The show is a tribute to Salvador Dali. When they approached me about the show I was a little hesitant because I'm not a huge Dali fan although I love the surrealists. However, I started looking through his work and found a pixelated image of his wife which intrigued me. I've always likened the term pixelated to someone who is slightly eccentric or mentally disordered, and I like the idea of the fractured mind.

I created the image in Photoshop like I would an illustration, so I have had giclee prints made, and will have prints for sale as well as the framed print on display.

 I have a new piece in today's International Herald Tribune about an exiled blind lawyer activist from China. It's always exciting working with the Hong Kong office on these international pieces. I can never quite get my head around the idea that it is already tomorrow there...which means the final is due when!!??

 Today I have a piece on the cover of The New York Times' Sunday Review about ADHD and the connection to sleep dysfunction. I get asked quite often how I create my illustrations, so I've included not just the sketch but a progress shot. It's all digital collage.

 Here's a new piece for this month's Scientific American Magazine about the difficulty around diagnosing and treating sepsis, a deadly blood disease. I really enjoyed this one, and it was a challenge to mimic the classical painting I used in my sketch. Thanks again to Ann Chin on this one.

I recently did four spots for Stanford Social Innovation Review, which is a magazine dedicated to non-profit business. The articles were pretty dense and quite a challenge to come up with non-cliche images. It was a good challenge and exercise...always trying to get better at this problem solving!

I made this sculpture last week for a gift exchange...but then last minute decided that it was too creepy to give. It's made of foam, tracing paper, watercolor, graphite, brass pins, and resin. I love these gross sculptures! I want to do more!

I've been pretty busy recently, and have neglected posting some cool stuff. A while back the crew over at Soulpancake visited my studio and filmed a time lapse video of me painting from start to finish and interviewed me about my process. It was really fun and the crew were total pros! Despite my blabbering on, their editing really made me sound smart! Haha! Thanks guys!

 Yesterday was the opening of Post It Show 8 at Giant Robot. It was a lot of fun helping to hang the show, and even more fun contributing! The show will be up until the 16th, so go out and snag some awesome art for only $25 each!

I recently did a cover piece for this weeks issue of Kansas City's The Pitch. This was really fun, working with ghost like silhouettes to give a feeling of absence and alienation. The article is about the difficulty of finding friends in the city, especially in the digital age...something I completely relate to. Thanks to AD Ashford Stamper!
