It's been a while since I posted anything, but never fear I have projects in the pipe line. For now, here's my Halloween pumpkin. Happy holiday!!

About a year ago I did a full page illustration for a law magazine. The magazine had some financial problems, like many magazines these days, and since then I have been waiting for it to be published. It looks like it is finally out, so here it is. The piece is for an article about California's prop 8 trial which evolved into a conversation about science verses religion.

Today I have a piece on the letters page of the NY Times. The topic is on the military uniform and the concept of being a hero. Thanks again to Alexandra Zsigmond.

Last week I worked on a piece for The NY Times Op-Ed about Rosa Parks and part of her estate being sold off by an auction house who is refusing to allow historians to examine the collection. The auction house recently released a portion of a letter Parks wrote about being a victim to an attempted rape and I found the letter online and used it in the background of the illustration. Sadly the story was killed, so this piece won't be published, but here it is for posterity. Thanks a bunch to guest Art Director Alicia DeSantis for this assignment!

Tonight I have 4 pieces and some prints on view and for sale at Redscout, a design firm who is opening up a brand new gallery in San Fransisco. This is their first show, so stop by and wish them luck! Thanks to everyone over at Redscout for all their enthusiasm and support!

Yesterday I had an illustration in the NY Times Op-Ed about Michele Bachmann and her migraines. The illustration needed to focus more on the migraine and less on Bachmann. I love that I was able to get a little wild with the scribbles. Once again, many thanks to Aviva!

I found inspiration from this Basquait painting, which seems to scream migraine:

I worked on the Playboy Jazz Festival catalog again this year. This time instead of doing the typical portrait, I was able to provide a more editorial approach to an article about early radio in Los Angeles. I am always hesitant about using more texture on top of more texture, but I think this one holds the page well. Thanks again to AD Fred Fehlau.

I was recently asked to be a part of Gallery Nucleus' Power In Numbers online gallery, and threw together this little painting. Not only is this piece extremely affordable, but a portion of the sale will go to Unicef!

Recently I was invited to contribute an illustration to The Society of Killustrators website. The article is about a boy who is magnetic and attaches metal to his chest. This was super fun!

Today I have a piece in the NY Times Op-Ed about overweight women falling behind in the job force because of disadvantages they experienced as heavy children. I love how this one turned out! Thanks to Aviva who allowed me to flex my creative muscles! I am always amazed at how we can pull these off in just a day.

Two events happening this weekend. First I will be puppeteering with the fabulous Mr Wayne White at Western Projects from 6-8 tonight. I have been working with Wayne over the past few months preparing sculptures for this show, and it's great to see them all displayed beautifully. You should come check it out as it will be up until June 11th.

The second event happening this weekend is the Venice Art Walk & Auction where I will be exhibiting my piece "Through the Open Doors" along with 400 other artists including Ed Ruche! It will be Sunday at the Westminster School from 10am-5:30pm. Procedes will go to the Venice Family Clinic, a really gereat cause!

Yesterday I had a piece in the NY Times about the recent election in Nigeria and the resulting unrest. Thanks again to Aviva and Alexandra over at the Op-Ed!

I am honored to be in this years Communication Arts Illustration Annual, it just came in the mail today! As a kid I used to lay on my bed flipping through the pages of these annuals, analyzing all the images and daydreaming about the artists. It's really surreal to have my work published here after all those years. This one is especially special because my good friend Owen Freeman is on the cover!
