I am really proud of my new piece in today's New York Times. It is about a new test that predicts Alzheimers. The sun is shining through to give it a hopeful note. I really love how it came out. Thanks a bunch to Aviva over at the Op-Ed.

Here's a small series of Yokai illustrations. Yokai are Japanese demon/spirits, and all of these are based on real folklore.

Rokuro-Kubi: a woman who's neck uncontrollably stretches.

Hayakume: a Yokai who guards temples from vandals and thieves. If he sees a thief, one of his eyes flies off and attatches itself to the theif.

Dorotabo: A dead farmer who resembles a rotting corpse and haunts his abused land.

Here are some new haunted house pieces for the next post-it show at Giant Robot in New York. Thanks to Mark Todd and Esther Watson for continuing to include me in these shows! With this continuing series, I'm starting to think about the physical idea of a house and the energy that is left behind when it no longer exists.

Here are some new grotesques. It's kind of amazing how many people like this series. Attraction and repulsion are exactly what I'm going for...and it's just plain fun painting flawed people.

I've been away working on some top secret projects and moving...but now I'm back. I've been wanting to do more portrait work, so here are a few I've been messing around with.

Here are some illustrations I did for the nicely designed Australian Trunk book series. This issue of the series will be about blood, and you can see the previous book about hair here. With these pieces I was thinking about stigmata and menstruation and was looking at a lot of botanical illustrations as well as this beautiful and amazing Victorian blood book. After the time spent rendering the flowers, I somehow prefer the simplicity of the silhouettes...we'll have to wait and see which ones the publishers picked.
