Here are some new haunted house pieces for the next post-it show at Giant Robot in New York. Thanks to Mark Todd and Esther Watson for continuing to include me in these shows! With this continuing series, I'm starting to think about the physical idea of a house and the energy that is left behind when it no longer exists.

Here are some new grotesques. It's kind of amazing how many people like this series. Attraction and repulsion are exactly what I'm going for...and it's just plain fun painting flawed people.

I've been away working on some top secret projects and moving...but now I'm back. I've been wanting to do more portrait work, so here are a few I've been messing around with.

Over the holiday I spent a lot of time waiting in the airport...a perfect opportunity to get some sketching in.

Here are some illustrations I did for the nicely designed Australian Trunk book series. This issue of the series will be about blood, and you can see the previous book about hair here. With these pieces I was thinking about stigmata and menstruation and was looking at a lot of botanical illustrations as well as this beautiful and amazing Victorian blood book. After the time spent rendering the flowers, I somehow prefer the simplicity of the silhouettes...we'll have to wait and see which ones the publishers picked.

I forgot about this illustration for Celeb Life magazine. I did it ages ago and I'm still on the fence about how it came out...this is about as cartoony as I'll ever get. The article was a pretty silly and inane one about online etiquette, so I wanted it to be silly but also get the idea across.

I also did a spot for the same article, but the sketch actually looked better than the final.

Here's today's NYT letters piece on health care reform and abortion. This sensitive subject can be quite a challenge...no pregnant bellies, fetuses, wombs...so I had to come up with something to represent the woman's health side.

here are a couple sketches. The editors requested I get rid of the oval because it looked too much like a womb.

Also congrats to Aviva Michaelov on her new position at the Op-Ed, and good luck to Leanne Shapton on the next stage of her career. They are both great to work with!

Here's my sketch and final illo from today's New York Times letters page, which is about how to finance food aid for the needy. You can read the letters here. They lightened up the image from the original, which looking at it now was a good idea since the newspaper always prints a little darker.
